Tuftmasters mission is to manufacture the highest quality carpet products in an environmentally sound manner and to exceed all statutory requirements.
All relevant legislation and associated best practice contained within the environmental management guidelines shall be observed by Tuftmaster. These are outlined in the Environmental Management Manual, specifically these include ISO 14001 and all associated regulations and State Environmental Protection Policy’s.
To ensure that our Mission and Policy objectives are achieved, Tuftmasters top Management commits to the implementation and administration of this Policy through the EMS.
Approximately 200,000+ tonnes of carpet is directed to landfill sites annually. This can be significantly reduced by ensuring the product selected is suitable for the situation and is maintained appropriately, thus eliminating the need for replacement due to premature aging and diminished appearance.
By purchasing credited green product lines, the customer can be assured that Tuftmaster has considered all environmental aspects throughout the maufacturing process as a whole.
There can be a number of considerations made prior to the purchasing of a soft floor covering such as:
Is the product low emitting Volatile Organic Compounds? (Low emitting VOC product lines protect the occupant in a healthy indoor environment).
Is the chosen product suitable for the situation and installation?
Is it Australian made?
Has the manufacturer an Environmental Management System?
Is the company currently working on reducing its carbon footprint?
Is the company sourcing energy from renewable resources eg/ GreenPower?
All of these questions have an impact on the environment and Tuftmaster assures that all the above considerations can be communicated if/when required.

VOC's are Organic Compounds that contain the element carbon. VOC's evaporate easily at room temperature and often have a sharp smell. Common sources which may emit VOC's into indoor air include housekeeping and maintenance products, office equipment, adhesives, carpeting, upholstery, paints and solvents. In sufficient quantities, VOC's can cause eye, nose, and throat irritations, headaches, dizziness, visual disorders and memory impairment. Some VOC's can cause cancer in certain situations, especially when they are concentrated indoors.
Products with a low VOC content meant for indoor use have been positively correlated with better indoor quality.
The purpose of this policy is to support the purchase of recycled and environmentally preferred products in order to minimize environmental
impacts relating to our manufacturing process. Tuftmaster Carpets recognizes our employees can make a difference in favour of environmental quality and maintaining a safe environment. We strongly support the purchasing of environmentally preferable products which is reflected in our Energy
Management Plan to reduce our environmental footprint.
